Many people who buy fish spend good money on their fish and then purchase the cheapest fish food out there. This is a huge mistake as fish, especially colorful tropical fish, can lose their color and even their life when fed poor quality tropical fish food. Think of it this way. If a human eats fast food all of their life bad health problems will most likely arise because of the poor nutrition. The same things can happen with fish.
